FiltersFilters were the very first things I set up once I converted to Gmail as my primary email program. Gmail Filtersenable you to organize your email in a variety of ways, including sending emails from your mother-in-law directly to the trash. Just joking! Filters are easy to set up and once you have a few active, you’ll quickly discover more ways that filtering will make your email inbox easier to sort through.

Keyboard ShortcutsWindows operating systems, Mac OS and several software programs all have their own set of keyboard shortcuts but so does Gmail. Once you memorize the keyboard shortcuts for a few frequently used tasks, you’ll find that you’ll be able to go through your email much more quickly. Check out the Gmail Keyboard Shortcutspage for more information on the shortcuts including keyboard requirements.

Undo Sending Your MailMake a typo in your email? Forget to add a recipient? Change your mind about sending a message?
Take back a message you just sent by enabling the Undo Send feature. |
Hide Addresses When Sending MailIf you're sending a message to several people and want to hide each recipient's email address, you can use the blind carbon copy feature. When you're composing a message, just click Bcc in the top right corner of your compose window and enter the email addresses that you don't want recipients to see.

Organize Your InboxHere are some tips and tricks to keeping track of your Gmail. We get so much email lately that it can be hard to keep track of it all. The links below offer some great ways to stay on top of your email.

Change How You See Reply EmailsWhen people reply to an email, Gmail groups responses together in a single conversation with the newest message on top.
A conversation breaks off into a new thread if the subject line changes or the conversation reaches more than 100 messages. In some cases, you can change this default view. |
Block EmailTo avoid disruptive emails and help people using Gmail stay in control of their inboxes, there is a new Block feature in the Gmail app on Android and the web. Future mail from blocked email addresses will go directly to Spam (and can always be unblocked in Settings).

BoomerangWith Boomerang, you can write an email now and schedule it to be sent automatically at the perfect time. Just write the messages as you normally would, then click the Send Later button. Use our handy calendar picker or our text box that understands language like "next Monday" to tell Boomerang when to send your message. We'll take it from there.
There are times you need to make sure you follow up within a specific time frame after sending a message. You can select to only be reminded if nobody replies, or regardless. This way you won't let messages slip through the crack and will never forget to follow up with people. |
